Company names

A company name may be entered on the register unless it comes within any one of four categories of names that must not be entered on the register.

The name of a company must end with the word “Limited” or “Limiteti”.

A company name will not be entered on the register –

1. the use of which would contravene an enactment;

2. that is identical or almost identical to the name of another company or another company under the Companies Act 1912 (Cap. 27);

3. that is identical or almost identical to a name that the Registrar has already reserved under this Act and that is still available for registration; or

4. that, in the opinion of the Registrar, is offensive.
